MphasiS Initiatives to engage CSR

MphasiS works with the voluntary sector in implementing projects in the communities that we live and work in. We seek to involve employees, clients, and other stakeholders, and encourage them to actively contribute their skills, time and expertise to such initiatives.

  • Assimilation of persons with disabilities into the workforce
Even though persons with disabilities constitute a significant 5 - 6 percent of the population of India, their needs for employment remain unsatisfied. We are committed to being an equal opportunity employer, and encourage employment of otherwise qualified persons with disabilities. We have recruited over 320 persons with disabilities in various capacities across BPO. Applications, ITO and Corporate Support towers. To evolve a long-term strategy to deal with employment opportunities, we have partnered with Enable India, a pan-Indian NGO that works towards placement of persons with disabilities in the corporate sector.
  • Inclusiveness of persons with disabilities in to mainstream society - Nannagu Shale (A School for Me Too)
To address the employment needs of persons with disabilities, MphasiS, in partnership with Fourth Wave Foundation (FWF), has developed an intervention program by creating a model that impacts all segments of society, and helping them take responsibility in making this work. FWF has envisaged two different implementation models for two geographical areas, one for rural Karnataka and the other for urban and rural Bangalore. They plan to replicate these models across India enabling inclusion of children with disabilities in to the society, ensuring their right to education.
  • Aalamba Program
Aalamba program is an employability and entrepreneurship program aimed at youth who are school drop outs and fall into a policy black hole. MphasiS aims to empower over 300 youth with employment and skills training, and support with employment exchange services. We also aim to support 30 bright young people in developing their own enterprises, as part of the business and employment co-operative, within one year of training. We have helped setting up a catering unit initiated by a self-help group of women, called Sangam Foods, and a Potter's Shop (a sales outlet of pottery products) at Pottery town in Bangalore, India.
  • Swachcha Grama, Badami Taluk, Bagalkot district, Karnataka
MphasiS extended its support to the Badami Taluk in Bagalkot district in the aftermath of the severe floods that hit North Karnataka last year. MphasiS provided monetary support and also ensured that more than 1600 households from 22 villages were provided dry rations, blankets, buckets, etc. in partnership with headstreams. MphasiS is also promoting 'Swacha Grama' (clean village) concept by building 50 toilets for two villages in Badami Taluk.
  • i-Lead
Aide et Action has collaborated with MphasiS F1 Foundation to impart employability trainings for dropout youth from marginalized communities living in rural and urban areas of Chennai. The candidates belong to scheduled caste, and are socially and economically backward. Due to poor economic conditions, the youth stop their studies in between, and are unable to do technical or skill education which made them vulnerable, underemployed, and unemployed. Three months training are initiated in ITeS, automobile mechanism, electrician, and hospitality.
  • Nurture Merit
This is a program to nurture the merit of students from disadvantaged families to enable them to realize their potential. MphasiS provide assistance in the form of college fees, examination fees, tutorials, and coaching for meritorious and needy students. We also provide text and career related books, computer facilities, career guidance, and training, and also facilitate students' holistic and personality development to excel in professional and personal life through various training programs.
  • Namma Halli
Namma Halli is a CSR initiative of Confederation of Indian Industries (CII), Karnataka. Under this initiative, CII-Karnataka had invited its members to adopt villages in rural Karnataka. MphasiS has adopted four villages in Doora Panchayat - Doora, Talur, Muradagalli, and Dodda Katuru - located 130 kms from Mysore in Karnataka. The goals behind this initiative include sustainable economic development, improved health, and over all human development with increased and improved access to education, adult literacy, clean village and environment. MphasiS is committed to support this initiative for an initial period of three years.
  • Employee Engagement
Employee engagement for community initiatives remains a top priority for MphasiS. As part of our CSR employee engagement program, we launched the following initiatives:
    • MyKartavya:This is an initiative of NASSCOM Foundation supported by MphasiS. The objective of this portal is to promote volunteerism amongst corporate employees by helping them document their volunteering hours and activities.
    • MyKartavya:This is an initiative by MphasiS where employees can contribute monetarily to any F1 Foundation charity. The employee can log on to the company's Self Service Portal (SSP) to access the ECP and learn about the charities MphasiS supports.
  • CSR Program in UK
MphasiS has partnered with Pratham UK, an India focused NGO, whose mission is "every child in school and learning well", and have successfully held a fund-raising event for them. Going beyond fundraising, MphasiS recently deputed two of its CRM Practice resources, to help configure Salesforce.com for Pratham. As part of the Salesforce.com implementation, MphasiS implemented an Events Management section, along with Volunteer Force, to enable Pratham to manage all its events and volunteers, directly through Salesforce.
