| MphasiS, through its community initiatives, strives to build bridges between:
|
| The company and the communities we live in |
| Our employees and social issues |
| Our skills and society's needs |
MphasiS believes that education
is the key to the social and economic development of a nation.
We invest in projects that provide quality education to underprivileged
children, contribute to overall learning and personal growth,
throw open new employment avenues and career choices, and bring
about significant and sustainable improvements in the standard
of living of children and their communities. We work with the
voluntary sector in implementing projects in the communities
that we live and work in. We seek to involve employees, clients
and other stakeholders and encourage them to actively contribute
their skills, time and expertise to such initiatives.
Employee volunteers are the most important pillar of MphasiS'
community strategy. Our employees proactively support and contribute
to social causes by donating their time, money, skills, and
creative ideas. We encourage awareness generation and fundraising
efforts of NGOs within MphasiS.
MphasiS is an equal opportunity employer and encourages employment of otherwise qualified but disabled people. We continue to scour this talent pool to add to the growing MphasiS family.

Community Initiatives
Assimilating Disabled
People into the Workforce
Even though disabled people constitute a significant 5 - 6 percent
of the population of India, their needs for employment remain
unsatisfied. MphasiS, an EDS Company is committed to being an
equal opportunity employer and encourages employment of otherwise
qualified, but disabled people. In order to reach out to this
diverse pool, MphasiS launched an awareness drive for recruiting
disabled candidates through the Campus Recruitment.
We have recruited 54 disabled persons over the last 12 months
in various capacities across BPO and IT. To evolve a long-term
strategy to deal with employment opportunities for the disabled,
we have partnered with Enable India, a pan-Indian NGO that works
towards placement of disabled people in the corporate sector.
Education of Underprivileged Children
|
Each
One Teach One
MphasiS has been supporting Each One Teach One (EOTO), an NGO
working for the overall development of children from underprivileged
background, for four years now. MphasiS is funding three of
EOTO's six schools at Andheri and Ghatkopar in Mumbai, including
one project to create and sustain good hygiene practices in
the Sion Municipal School.
The Each One Teach One Foundation (EOTO) works with economically
deprived children who study in Government-run municipal schools
in Mumbai. |
American
India Foundation's Digital Equalizer Programme
MphasiS supports the American India Foundation's (AIF) Digital
Equalizer (DE) Program, a Computer Aided Learning (CAL) program
that bridges the education and digital divide in India and prepares
tens of thousands of children to compete in the digital economy.
Targeting children in grades 6 through 10, AIF supports a DE
school for three years and prepares the school for complete
self-sufficiency after that period. The MphasiS grant supports
the activities of the cluster coordinator, the state team leader,
and the academic supervisor for 10 of the 216 schools of AIF. |
Jagruti
Seva Sanstha, Pune
In Pune, we support an NGO called Jagruti Seva Sanstha, through
whom we sponsor the education of 15 deserving students till
class 12 and beyond. The students are selected through a local
community coordinator on the basis of means cum merit and provide
them with academic support and computer training. |
Swadhar,
Pune
Swadhar offers to protect, support, and shelter the women and
children in distress in order to enable them to become self-reliant
and financially independent members of the society. MphasiS
helps Swadhar to run Non-formal education classes in Bibbewadi,
Pune. The MphasiS partnership has enabled 80 children to start
their education afresh.

HIV / AIDS Awareness
As a Company that is committed
to care and support its employees, MphasiS has introduced workplace
interventions vis-à-vis HIV/AIDS. Awareness generation among
the BPO employees to prevent HIV/AIDS, destigmatize the epidemic,
promote methods to practice safe sex and eventually a policy
of non-discrimination are considered as the key areas of workplace
intervention. As part of this initiative, MphasiS took the pioneering
step of installing the first Condom Vending Machine (CVM) at
its Pune BPO facility. MphasiS also contributed $5000 by sponsoring
a table at the Dallas Gala organized by American India Foundation
(AIF). The gala, which was underwritten by the Bill and Melinda
Gates Foundation, focused on raising awareness and funds for
AIF's public health initiatives, particularly in the area of
HIV/AIDS.
