EDS has been named as the top company in the 2007 VARBusiness 500 ranking of information technology (IT) solution providers in the latest edition of VARBusiness magazine.

EDS reached the top spot in the annual listing with 2006 revenue of $21.3 billion, placing it ahead of competitors such as Accenture, BT Global Services and Computer Sciences Corp.

The magazine cited the signing of the General Motors (GM) and Kraft contracts as key wins in securing the top spot on the list. The magazine also noted that the 2006 contracts represented the highest rates of signings for the company since 2001 and that sales increased for the year by 7 percent to the $21.3 billion mark.

According to the magazine, the VARBusiness 500 is the definitive listing of the biggest IT solutions providers, integrators and services companies in North America by gross worldwide revenue.
