Leveraging tech-driven, market-based solutions to empower 2,500 youth with employable skills.

Adopting models that leverage tech-centric, disruptive business models are the key to have effective social and economic impact and scale in the skilling ecosystem. Social Enterprises harness market-based, innovative business models to enhance financial and social returns while ensuring sustainability and scalability.

It is against this background that Mphasis partnered with Villgro Innovations Foundation (India’s oldest technology incubator for social enterprises) and SkillTrain (a tech-enabled vocational training organization) to develop the SkillTrain Mobile App — Mphasis’ flagship program in the space of livelihood. Using a simulation-based, blended learning model — both online (the app) and offline (on ground training partners) — the SkillTrain Android app will provide certified training in over 12 courses including computer hardware repair, electronics, tailoring and plumbing among others. This will empower over 2,500 youth across rural and urban India with employable skills in 2017.
