Mphatically Yours

I had my first encounter with Mphasis around nine years ago. I was in college and Mr. Elango R., the company’s Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO), was the Chief Guest for the annual Human Resources

(HR) conference that year.  A warm, friendly person who had a unique aura that commanded respect, Mr. Elango impressed us all with an awe-inspiring speech on the importance of corporate social responsibility and how ‘employee first’ was not merely a fancy tag line but a demonstrable practice. It was from then that I wanted to be part of Mphasis, where it was clear that “people-centric” was not just a tag line but an actual commitment.

My amazing journey with Mphasis

Soon after, I was given the opportunity to intern at the company under the mentorship of Mr. Gokul

Santanam, who introduced me to the alpha and beta of HR. I was also taught the importance of placing Emotional Quotient (EQ) over Intelligent Quotient (IQ). The EQ of an employee showcases traits such as communication, ability to deal with stressful situations and willingness to learn. It is also a good way to imbibe a corporate culture that focuses on teamwork, accountability and employee retention. The reasoning behind this, at Mphasis, is that while IQ might take you places, EQ is what will keep you there.

On May 10th, 2010, I officially became a Mphasian, owing to Mr. Santanam giving me a pre-placement offer. My first few days at Mphasis were spent being part of the Aarambh program, a fast track career progression program for freshers, where the CHRO and the HR Leadership team mentored us personally. This was followed by stints in HR Operations, Line HR and Staffing, and working at Mphasis offices across different locations in India. I was then called to work at the office of the CHRO, as the executive assistant to the CHRO himself. Working here took me out of my comfort zone and stretched my limits, but at each step I was guided by Mr. Elango, who motivated me to do my best. I graduated from the program armed with a battery of skills and experiences to last a lifetime.

The amazing journey continues

In 2015, I completed 5 years with Mphasis. As I look back on my journey so far, I feel immensely grateful, as what Mphasis has offered me, in terms of opportunity is unfathomable. I was trusted to run the management program I was inducted into, just after a short stint of 3 years. Life at Mphasis has been an amazing journey so far, wherein personal and professional growth are given equal weightage. It truly is a workplace that encourages you to be the best you and gives you tools to enhance every aspect of your professional journey.
