Digital Transformation is no longer a process that an organisation can choose to opt for; today, it has become an essential part of staying alive in an uber-competitive landscape (no pun intended). Infact digital is going to be, if not already, one of the most important agendas in 2016 for CXOs –CEO, CIO, CMO, CHRO and CSO (Chief Service Officer) alike.
The increasing pace of business changes in the digital age makes it mandatory for companies to institutionalize the proven change management best practices. These practices as is common knowledge, include -creating awareness, imparting knowledge & training for the change (such as social immersion training sessions), extensive engagement and communication with employees (through both physical or social platforms) on how the new world order will affect their work and enabling Sales and Delivery to take that change successfully to the customers.
Mphasis has been on a transformation journey to keep pace with & in some cases contribute to the digital led transformation happening all around us. Having realized the importance of extensive communication with all stakeholders, we encouraged all our key leaders help forge our organizational path towards digital & social approach. Early in the process reality hit us as we realized social communication has to flow both ways and is not hierarchical. It became obvious that we had to get the entire organization to become social. But how do you even embark on the initiative to take 25000 employees social?
A (Social) Room with a view
We, at Mphasis, created The Social Room, a corporate digital helpdesk with the singular goal of helping both the company and our employees use digital and social tools more effectively. It is a dedicated help desk, powered with all tools & processes and continuously evolving with tech enabled best practices. We believe that the Social Room is both a basic and powerful tool that will help us explore new (and better) ways of doing things.
Mphasis employees use The Social Room to find out how they can utilize social and digital tools to amplify products and events. For their products, solutions and associated brands, it helps them get the buzz going by communicating to a well targeted audience, by increasing the visibility and reach of live events and launches, going beyond traditional methods / channels. It helps them get a more complete picture of potential customers and enables them to touch and engage them in a non-intrusive manner. In addition, it helps them build a strong social presence for themselves.
A Social Room, tweaked to an organisation’s needs, is critical for any organization which is on the cusp of a transformation journey. Such a scalable internal resource, will also be an attractive proposition to plenty of folks, whether it’s the marketing heads looking for their next big idea for their upcoming product launch, or the C-suite execs wanting to explore thought-leadership roles.
At the end of the day, The Social Room is one of the incredibly useful tools that is both a part of the overall transformation journey and an enabler of successful digital transformation.
