GLOBAL INSURANCE FIRM INCREASED ITS OPERATIONAL PRODUCTIVITY BY 30 PERCENT WITH BPM 7.x

As a leading, US-based, multinational insurance corporation, the client experienced huge volumes of data inflows and needed an automated content management system to simplify its operations. It also needed that this solution integrates with the other applications.

BUSINESS CHALLENGE

 

The client had an Excel-based content management system and wanted it automated using Appian. Also, it wanted to simplify the form-filling and approval procedure and automate manual workflow steps that were completed through Excel and e-mail by using Appian. It was at this point that Mphasis was roped in to implement a business process management (BPM) platform using Appian.

SOLUTION

 

By applying the Appian BPM 7.X platform, we were able to:

• Develop a process for the account-critical data domain, specifically to create a base group account for corporate business planning and consolidation (BPC) and a customer-operating account for Finance Warehouse (FW)

• Implement a workflow tool in support of data governance processes

• Overcome challenges such as integration with the data management tool, persistence of data in a relational database, and integration with a document management facility

• Develop the Appian portal-based application

• Integrate with SharePoint for document management

• Integrate with the downstream application using web services

• Increase operational productivity by 30 percent

• Provide easier access to users on policy-related, relevant documents

• Generate dashboard and ad hoc reports easily
